Architectural features and
LEED requirements are driving factors for the use of precast / prestressed concrete products for these structures. Typical products used on this type of project are walls (exterior) and hollowcore slabs (elevated flooring - noise reduction). The walls can be insulated or non-insulated, and architectural finishes (colors, textures, reveals and brick insets) can be added for style to compliment the surrounding environment or structures.
Another important consideration is fire safety. Precast concrete is a non-combustible material that is designed to allow adequate time for evacuation and suppression.
